- Obvious boiler room caller. Has Indian accent, could hear background noise indicating multiple lines being used. Hung up on after calling back four times and requesting information about callers IRS Office, Employee number as assigned and other information. Stated that they were with the Criminal Response Unit which doesn't exist in the U S Treasury. When I identified myself as Law Enforcement, I was promptly sent a high pitched type of signal in the attempt to harm my hearing. Technology will allow this caller to be identified eventually and enforcement action may accrue. DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION to this caller, however it is permissible to "play" them by demanding certain bits of information that they cannot respond to; in example: What IRS office are you calling from? What is your Employee number? What is your employment title at the IRS? This can be somewhat enjoyable in the attempt to "turn the tables" on the caller. They will always answer, with the same accent and regional dialect. Obvious scam call but have fun with the caller, attempting to convince them they are being recorded and monitored.
