- I just received a call from this number, and my Caller ID says it appears to be from Lewiston, ME. He has the same heavy Indian accent as four other phone calls I received where they claimed to be from IRS, Treasury threatening me for unpaid taxes (this is a scam, IRS or Treasury only does business through US Mail), then from a number in West Palm Beach, Fla claiming to be with a medical compensation service that wanted to compensate me for bladder surgery if I would only give them my social security number, date of birth, and pay money to them via Paypal. These are varying scams done by the same person or persons, and done in a very threatening manner. They use internet phones where they can list fake numbers that appear to be in the US, but they are actually calling from India or another country where US authorities cannot prosecute them. People should just hang up on them as soon as they get these calls.
