“College Advisor" is a telemarketing group calling to try to get you connected with a school for you to hopefully decide to go back to school. The schools themselves are valid and not bad people/business at all. But this one "college advisor' company is trying to rip the schools off and they try anything to get your name to a school over and over so they can resell you and make 4-5 times the amount of money a normal (legit) lead generation company would make for connecting you. This company calling themselves ‘College Advisor’ are in India and pass your number from various rooms to rooms. They do not follow DNC rules. The schools eventually catch on, then fire them… and then they find a new school to sell to. THIS DOES NOT MEAN ALL INDIAN CALL CENTERS ARE BAD – Just these jerks. Next time they call… go ahead and take the call. Lie about your interest. Say you want to go to school. When they transfer you- tell the school advisor that “the line is bad and you can’t hear them… can they call you directly?” Let them call u back on your number. When they do call back be very clear to tell them that you are NOT interested and whoever just transferred you that you were not interested and to ‘please TAKE ME OFF THE LIST’ and they will - and eventually these "college advisor" will stop calling you. The ‘college advisor’ WILL call you back and ask what happened (cause when you hung up, they could not listen in…) tell them u got matched to 6 schools. This will further mess them up with the schools they are trying to rip off. And your calls will stop. :) Please be sure about COLLEGE ADVISOR being the rip-off. Again, there are many, many companies out there who are doing legitimate business and calling just to see if you want to go to school. If you don’t, tell them “no” and to “take you off the list”- it’s that simple. But if they are the pushy ‘College Advisor’ do this described above and that’s how to get rid of them. Forever. This group calls from many phone numbers (none of them work of course - a LEGIT co. uses a working number that you should be able to call back and reach an agent to get more info- or get yourself off the list!! ) Numbers are: 516-673-0640 , 516-673-0623 , 516-673-0628 , 203-411-2110 , 203-411-2103
